Geri Jimenez Gould
Painter – Sculptor- Medalist
Geri is a native Californian, of Native American and Mexican American descent, with family roots dating back to before the Mission period. She is an active tribal member of the Gabrielino/Tongva Nation. She painted in traditional oil-on-canvas since 1970, turning her primary focus in 1983 to the almost lost art of bas-relief sculpture for medals, memorials and plaques.
She has exhibited internationally, including the British Museum, Pen and Brush Club, New York, Inaugural Exhibition of the California Women’s Museum, Beyond Two Dimensions, Forest Lawn Museum, the Laguna Beach Museum of Art, Descanso Gardens, Glendale CA, and the Inaugural Contemporary Hispanic Market, Santa Fe.
Her works are included in the Smithsonian Institution and Vatican Collections, the Serra Museum, Majorca, Spain, the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis Museum, Santa Fe, NM, Forest Lawn Museum, San Fernando Mission Museum, among others.
Geri has served as a Board member and elected officer of the American Medallic Sculpture Association. She served as Guest Curator for Beyond Two-Dimensions at the Forest Lawn Museum, Glendale, CA. She is married to fellow sculptor and designer William L. Gould.
